Shelley Pernot did not learn about burnout from a textbook. She lived it. After years of climbing the corporate ladder, working in risk management in London, and achieving every external marker of success, she woke up one day completely numb, depleted and not sure why. That experience became the foundation of her coaching practice and the subject of her first book, Running on Empty: An Irreverent Guide to Filling Up with Mindfulness.
